Gynecomastia Treatment

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Eau Claire and Wisconsin

The scientific term gynecomastia is used for enlarged male breasts. This condition is one that can result in a female-like chest due to the increase of growing breast tissue. Many times, gynecomastia is caused by an unknown hormonal problem. This condition may also be caused by certain medications, steroids, weight gain, or it can be hereditary. Men with this issue generally feel embarrassed, especially in situations where the chest area is seen, such as at the beach, pool, or in the gym. Dr. Demaree offers male breast reduction surgery for men who suffer from gynecomastia. This surgery has a high success rate and is considered one of the more popular cosmetic treatments for men at Premier Surgical Arts.

Treatment Process

Fat removal is typically utilized during male breast reduction surgery. While you are under general anesthesia, liposuction reduces excess pockets of fat from the internal chest region. Afterward, any skin showing laxity will be excised to produce a tighter look, and then the nipple area and surrounding areola will be surgically reshaped and placed into a proper position. In most cases, this treatment strategy requires an incision in proximity to where the glandular tissue has formed. After the pockets of fat and excess skin have been appropriately handled, Dr. Demaree will pull together the remaining skin.
