Breast Lift
Conveniently located to serve the areas of Eau Claire and Wisconsin

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a procedure that reshapes the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening tissues to produce a more youthful appearance. (1)
Breast tissue can lose elasticity over time due to factors like gravity, hormonal changes, and aging. If you are looking to restore the shape of your breasts, you could be an ideal candidate for a breast lift procedure.

About Breast Lift Procedures
A breast lift (mastopexy) is a surgical procedure designed to raise and reshape sagging breasts. Over time, factors such as aging, pregnancy, weight fluctuations, and gravity can cause the breasts to lose their firmness and youthful position. A breast lift restores a more lifted, symmetrical, and youthful breast contour without significantly changing breast size.
Breast Lift Techniques
Dr. Demaree offers two types of techniques to perform breast lift procedures. These techniques include:
- Straight-Line Vertical Technique (Lollipop Lift): Also known as the lollipop lift, this lift is best suited for patients with moderate sagging who would benefit from a noticeable lift without excessive scarring. Dr. Demaree will create two incisions, one around the areola and another extending vertically down to the breast crease. This approach allows for effective reshaping of the breast while minimizing scarring. It provides a natural-looking lift and is ideal for women who want to improve breast projection and firmness.
- Anchor Technique (Inverted-T Lift): This method is recommended for patients with significant breast sagging. Dr. Demaree will make three incisions: one around the areola, one extending vertically from the areola to the breast crease, and a third incision along the breast fold. This technique provides maximum lift and reshaping, making it an excellent choice for women who have undergone major weight loss or have larger breasts that require extensive repositioning.
Benefits
Breast lift procedures can be beneficial in many different ways, which is a major reason why this procedure has grown in popularity, especially in recent years. (2) Some of the advantages seen by our patients include:
- Improved Appearance: A breast lift redefines the silhouette, combating sagging and improving the overall contour.
- Boosted Confidence: Many patients report feeling more confident about their bodies after undergoing a breast lift.
- Nipple Repositioning: The procedure often corrects the position of low or sagging nipples.
- Better Breast Symmetry: Many women have asymmetrical breasts; a breast lift can enhance uniformity.
- Complementary to Augmentation: A breast lift can be combined with breast augmentation for even more impactful results if a volume increase is desired.
- Long-lasting Results: While the tissues will continue to age, the results from a lift can last for years.
Ideal Candidates
Ideal candidates for a breast lift tend to include women who have specific concerns related to sagging breasts, which may arise from weight loss, pregnancy, or aging. Breast lifts may greatly benefit women who:
- Exhibit visible sagging of the breasts.
- Have stretched skin and/or enlarged areolas.
- Are in good overall health.
- Have realistic expectations about what they can accomplish with a breast lift.
- Are nonsmokers or are willing to discontinue the use of nicotine for this procedure.
Whether or not you are an ideal candidate for a breast lift will be determined during your personal consultation at Premier Surgical Arts.

Preparation
Proper preparation is essential for a successful breast lift procedure. Dr. Demaree and the Premier Surgical Arts staff will provide you with detailed instructions tailored to your treatment plan. Typically, these guidelines will instruct you to:
- Discontinue Certain Medications: Stop taking medications and supplements that thin the blood at least two weeks before surgery.
- Cease Nicotine Use: Refrain from smoking and using nicotine products (if applicable), as these can impede healing.
- Plan for Recovery: You should arrange for transportation home following your procedure as well as at-home care during the initial recovery period, if necessary.
Procedure
The details of a breast lift procedure will vary depending on the technique used. The surgery typically takes 2 to 4 hours, depending on your specific treatment plan. Dr. Demaree will make incisions based on the chosen technique, either the anchor technique or the straight-line vertical technique, tailored to your aesthetic goals and anatomy. He will then remove loose skin and lift the breasts for a more youthful appearance.
Recovery

The recovery for any type of breast lift is typically considered to be more extensive than breast augmentation surgery. After the procedure, you will be given a support bra that will help diminish swelling and support your new breast shape. In certain circumstances, Dr. Demaree may have to place a small tube near the location of the incision to help manage the excess fluid leakage that can sometimes occur after the procedure. Post-surgical swelling usually goes away within about a week or two. Dr. Demaree or a member of his team will provide specific, at-home incision care instructions to help your healing process.
Results
Following a breast lift, you can anticipate a noticeable improvement in breast shape and positioning. As swelling subsides over time, the final results will become more apparent, revealing a more youthful and elevated breast contour. Many patients report increased satisfaction with their appearance and boosted self-confidence. Breast lift procedures are associated with high patient satisfaction rates. (3)
Corresponding Procedures
Breast lift procedures can be combined with additional treatments to achieve comprehensive aesthetic results. This is completely optional, but Dr. Demaree and his team will be happy to provide you with a list of suggested treatments in addition to your breast lift they feel you could benefit most from. Some of the most commonly performed treatments done in conjunction with a breast lift include breast augmentation or a variety of body contouring procedures.
Cost of Breast Lift in Wisconsin
The cost of your breast lift procedure will depend on various factors such as the technique used, as well as whether or not any additional procedures are performed. During your personal consultation, Dr. Demaree and the Premier Surgical Arts staff will be glad to provide you with a detailed cost estimate to ensure you are fully informed about the price of your treatment. Premier Surgical Arts offers financing options to eligible patients.
FAQ
What is the best age for a breast lift?
Individuals typically consider breast lifts after significant changes in breast volume or positioning occur. Women often seek mastopexy in their late 20s onward, primarily influenced by physical changes linked to pregnancy, weight loss, or aging.
Can I breastfeed after a breast lift?
Many women can still breastfeed after a breast lift, yet this depends on the technique used and individual anatomical considerations. Discuss this concern openly during your consultation with Dr. Demaree.
Will a breast lift leave visible scarring?
While any surgical procedure carries the risk of scarring, Dr. Demaree uses advanced techniques to minimize the visibility of scars and places incisions strategically where they can be concealed by clothing.
How long do the results of a breast lift last?
The effects of a breast lift are long-lasting but not permanent. The natural aging process, weight fluctuations, or future pregnancies can influence breast shape over time.
Can a breast lift be combined with other procedures?
Yes, breast lifts can frequently be performed in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures, such as breast augmentation. Many patients choose this combined approach for enhanced aesthetic outcomes.
