About Dysport®
Changes to the skin can occur at different stages in life, depending on your genetics and other factors. Your lifestyle, diet, and age can all affect the appearance of your skin. UV exposure can cause your skin to age prematurely (photoaging), resulting in wrinkles, fine lines, and laxity. As you age, the collagen and elastin–proteins in your skin that help it maintain its structure–naturally decline. Dysport® can help you achieve smoother skin, and the flexible, well-tolerated formula distributes itself evenly beneath your skin to address fine lines around the eyes, brows, and lips. Dysport® temporarily relaxes the muscles by reducing your body’s release of acetylcholine, a hormone and neurotransmitter responsible for muscle contractions.
Dysport® vs. Dermal Fillers
If you want to add volume to your skin, we also offer dermal fillers–injectables that restore natural-looking volume to the skin for a plumper, more youthful-looking appearance. Although Dysport® can address signs of facial aging, it does not add volume to your skin. If you have hollow-looking cheeks, volume loss near the temples, and/or sunken under-eyes, we can restore natural-looking volume to your skin with RHA® fillers. RHA fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in the skin and moves fluidly with your facial movements for beautiful volume. We offer several different formulas to address different concerns, including:
- RHA® Redensity: This soft, smooth formula designed for delicate areas can help improve the appearance of under-eye hollows and reduce “smoker’s lines” around the mouth.
- RHA® 2: We can improve the appearance of your lips for a fuller, plumper look if you have thin lips from aging or weight loss.
- RHA® 3: We can enhance the cheeks and lips with a slightly thicker formula designed to improve the appearance of soft tissue.

Candidates
Suitable candidates for the treatment are those who would like to address signs of aging, such as vertical lines between the eyebrows (frown lines) that can create an angry or tired appearance. There is no one best age to receive Dysport® because your genetics and lifestyle typically determine when you will start to notice signs of aging.
If you have an allergy to lidocaine or an allergy to cow’s milk protein, we can discuss alternative treatment options. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking antibiotics, we can also discuss other treatments to help you achieve your aesthetic goals. Botox®, Daxxify®, and Dysport® are all wrinkle relaxers formulated differently. During your consultation, we will examine your skin and recommend the best treatment plan for your needs based on your skin type and medical history. Consultation
During your consultation, Dr. Demaree will examine your skin to determine the best treatment plan. You should be prepared to discuss any allergies, medications, and previous procedures during your consultation. He will also ask about your goals and expectations regarding treatment. Please come prepared to discuss your aesthetic goals in depth. If you have had any previous cosmetic procedures, you should let Dr. Demaree know about them when you come to the office.
Preparation
Preparing for Dysport® is simple. To prepare for Dysport® injections, you will need to stop taking medications and supplements that thin your blood. You will also need to stop using skincare products that contain retinol and avoid harsh chemical peels and/or facial treatments before your appointment. You must also stop drinking alcohol for 24 hours before and after your treatment. If you experience skin damage or a breakout, we will delay your appointment until your skin heals. We will provide you with more specific instructions to help you prepare based on your unique situation.
Treatment Process
During your treatment, we will cleanse your skin and administer the formula directly to the facial muscles. Although you may feel a slight pressure, the treatment is considered to be generally comfortable and well-tolerated. The injection appointment is usually no longer than 30 minutes.
After Your Treatment
After your treatment, you can return to most of your normal activities. You should avoid excessive sun exposure and participating in any contact sports or strenuous activities that could put pressure on the treated area. Minor swelling or redness around the injection site is normal.
Patients typically begin to see visible results after about 2-3 days. Depending on your goals, Dr. Demaree may recommend that you return for touch-up appointments every 4-6 months. After your appointment, we recommend practicing facial movements to help the formula settle into your muscles.
Results
After your treatment, you can begin to enjoy results in the next 24-72 hours as the treatment begins to work. Results will continue to develop over the next 10-14 days. While patient experiences vary, you can enjoy results that last for 3-4 months. Dysport® is biocompatible, meaning your body will absorb it over time. We can restore your results with a touch-up appointment, which Dr. Demaree typically recommends you wait to schedule until 4-6 months after your initial treatment.

Morpheus8 is a radiofrequency (RF) microneedling treatment that can address fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation for a smoother appearance. During the treatment, we administer the radiofrequency to your skin with thin needles that penetrate the skin barrier and stimulate collagen production.

How long will the results of a Dysport® treatment last?
If you avoid excessive sun exposure and take good care of your skin, you can enjoy results for 6 months to a year. We can also perform touch-up appointments 1-2 times a year for the best results.
Is Dysport® safe?
The treatment is well-tolerated, but your medical history and skin condition will determine whether it is the right option for you.
After my Dysport® treatment, how long will it take for the results to appear?
You can begin to notice improvements within 2-3 days, with results continuing to develop over the next 1-2 weeks.
Is there any downtime after the treatment?
Afterward, you can resume most of your normal activities, but you should avoid intensive exercise and excessive sun exposure.
