Breast Reduction

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Eau Claire and Wisconsin

Excessively large breasts can cause social and functional challenges for women. Furthermore, overly large and unbalanced breasts can lead to insecurity issues and overall embarrassment, as well as joint pain. Dr. Demaree can help individuals rebuild their confidence and enjoy an active lifestyle with a cosmetic breast reduction, also known as reduction mammoplasty. This surgery at Premier Surgical Arts reduces excess fat, tissue, and skin to redefine and reshape the breasts to a smaller and healthier size. It also reconstructs the size of the nipples/areolas and repositions them so they are symmetrical with the new size. In most situations, a breast lift can be performed to provide a tighter and healthier appearance.

Reduction Process

Surgical breast reduction is an outpatient procedure and is conducted with the patient under general anesthesia. The duration of the surgery depends on several factors, including what incision method is used, the general reduction technique, and finally, the degree of reduction. The areola and nipple area repositioning is also a factor. In most cases, liposuction is necessary for tissue and fat reduction to reduce breast size. During the consultation, all of these aspects are addressed with our staff. The issue surrounding scarring is also scrupulously examined and talked through as it is common to occur. However, advanced methods have led to a decrease in overall scarring. Depending on the intricacy of the size and overall reduction, either an inverted-T or a vertical incision will be made. Breast fat and tissue will then be removed, and the existing skin and tissue will be tightened.

FAQ

Can I breastfeed after a breast reduction?

Breast reduction surgery may affect your ability to breastfeed. While some women can still breastfeed after a reduction, some cannot. It is difficult to predict whether your breast reduction will cause you problems with breastfeeding. For this reason, Dr. Demaree suggests that patients be done having children or be willing to not breastfeed before considering breast reduction surgery.

How much does breast reduction surgery cost?

Your cost for breast reduction surgery will be reviewed with Dr. Demaree during your consultation. Once Dr. Demaree has created your personal treatment plan, it will be easier to estimate your costs, including facility fees, anesthesia, and more. Reduction surgery usually leads to a significant improvement in all aspects of life, which is why our staff will help you find low-interest medical financing to make your treatment affordable. We can also help you work with your health insurance provider to see if they will cover some of your costs.

Will my nipples be moved?

In most cases, the nipples and areola will be shifted up to a higher position on the breast during the surgery. If a significant amount of breast tissue and skin are being removed, your nipple-areola may be cut out and moved. Dr. Demaree will select an incision technique so the nipple and areola can be moved higher on the breast. It’s also possible to perform an areolatome to reduce the size of the areolas. Your options will be discussed during your consultation before Dr. Demaree helps you choose the best treatment plan to achieve your goals.
