Breast Lift After Weight Loss
Conveniently located to serve the areas of Eau Claire and Wisconsin

Losing weight is one of the most transformative changes you can undergo. However, this process can leave behind many physical changes, especially around the breasts. Your skin can lose its elasticity, your breasts can start to sag, or you may lose their natural shape and projection. (1)
A breast lift after weight loss restores a perkier, more uplifted appearance to your breasts by elevating their position on the chest wall. (2) This procedure can address the lasting effects of your weight loss, allowing you to showcase the figure you have worked so hard to achieve.

About Breast Lifts After Weight Loss
A breast lift after weight loss is a surgical procedure that can restore the definition and sculpt of your breasts, allowing you to achieve a more youthful and athletic appearance that complements your new physique. Dr. Demaree can reposition your breasts on the chest wall, remove redundant tissue, and reshape the areolas—all while preserving your natural breast volume. (2)
Benefits
Breast lifts offer numerous benefits, such as:
- More Sculpted Contours: A breast lift can create a perkier and more uplifted appearance by repositioning the breasts higher on the chest wall.
- Elevated Confidence: Restoring your breast appearance can improve your body positivity and sense of self-confidence.
- Smoother Skin: This procedure can eliminate any redundant breast tissue left from your weight loss journey, leaving you with smoother and tighter skin.
- Personalized Solutions: No two patients are the same, which is why Dr. Demaree customizes each treatment plan according to their needs and pre-existing anatomy.
- Lasting Results: When you maintain a stable weight and healthy lifestyle, your results can last for many years to come.
Candidates
You may be an ideal candidate for a breast lift if you have recently lost weight through traditional means, bariatric surgery, or GLP-1 medications and now struggle with sagging, misshapen, or deflated-looking breasts. You may also benefit from this procedure if your areolas are downward-facing or malpositioned, and you wish to correct their appearance.
To undergo this procedure, you should be in good general health and maintain realistic expectations regarding your results. You should already possess a stable weight that you can maintain long-term. It is also important that you are non-smoking or willing to quit using nicotine. Dr. Demaree will assess your candidacy during your personal consultation.
Personal Consultation
Your personal consultation is fundamental to creating your treatment plan. At this visit, Dr. Demaree will meet with you individually to review your medical history, learn more about your goals, and discuss your concerns. He will also perform a thorough examination of your natural chest anatomy, breast composition, and skin quality.
Dr. Demaree will use these details to finalize your candidacy and create a one-of-a-kind treatment plan to help you achieve your goals. He will determine which incision pattern to use, where he will reposition the breasts to, and how much tissue to remove. As he does this, he will explain each concept to you so you understand what to expect. He will also answer and address any questions you may have.
If you are ready to take the first step toward your new figure, please request a consultation online or call (715) 575-5800 to reach our Altoona office.
Preparation
After Dr. Demaree has finalized your procedure, he will give you a set of instructions to help you prepare. These may vary for each patient, but they typically include:
- Avoiding Certain Medications: Discontinue taking any medications or supplements that contain blood-thinning properties.
- Arranging Time Away: Prepare to take a few weeks away from your professional and personal responsibilities and commitments to focus on healing.
- Coordinate Care: Have a trusted friend or relative transport you home from your procedure, and if needed, stay with you for the first 24 to 48 hours of your recovery.
- Run Errands: Fill your prescriptions and rearrange your home to create a comfortable recovery environment.
- Stop Your Substance Use: Cease your consumption of nicotine and alcohol in the weeks leading up to your procedure.
Procedure
When you arrive for your procedure, a member of the Premier Surgical Arts team will cleanse your skin before you receive general anesthesia. Dr. Demaree will then place the incisions using one of two incision patterns: the vertical pattern or the anchor pattern.
- The Vertical Pattern: This incision placement circles the perimeter of the areola before extending vertically downward toward the breast crease. It may also be referred to as the “lollipop pattern.” (2)
- The Anchor Pattern: This approach builds off of the vertical pattern, but it adds a third, horizontal incision that extends across the breast crease. Dr. Demaree reserves this incision pattern for patients with larger amounts of skin, and it may also be called the “inverted-T pattern” or the “Wise pattern.”
Once Dr. Demaree places the incisions, he will reposition the breasts to a higher point on the chest wall. He will reshape the breast mound and remove the redundant tissues. If needed, he will also reshape and reposition the areolas to a more central and proportionate location on the breast. Your incisions will then be closed, and you will be transported to our recovery suite for a brief rest.
Recovery
Dr. Demaree performs breast lifts on an outpatient basis, which means that he will release you from his care on the same day he performs your corrections. You may experience some initial swelling and bruising, but these effects will dissipate with time. You may manage them with prescribed medications and plenty of rest. You will also be asked to wear a supportive bra, which will minimize further swelling and preserve your breasts as you heal.
You will be able to return to most nonstrenuous activities after resting for approximately 1 to 2 weeks. However, you will need to refrain from engaging in anything more demanding until Dr. Demaree has cleared you to return. Throughout your recovery, he will also have you return to his office for follow-up appointments. Here, he will remove any drains or stitches he placed, monitor your healing progression, and ensure your results are developing properly.
He will provide you with a detailed set of recovery instructions during your consultation. If any questions arise, please contact us so our team may provide you with additional guidance.
Results
You will be able to experience your refined results once you have fully recovered. While each patient’s outcomes vary, you can expect to enjoy improved proportions, elevated symmetry, and more defined and shapely breasts. Each of these effects can contribute to a more sculpted silhouette and a greater sense of self-confidence that you can carry with you in all situations.

FAQ
What concerns can a breast lift after weight loss address?
This procedure can correct lasting, physical changes to the chest left after weight loss, such as sagging skin or misshapen breast shape.
How will I know if I am a candidate for this procedure?
Attending a personal consultation is the best way to finalize your candidacy. Here, Dr. Demaree will be able to discuss your concerns with you and assess your physical anatomy to determine whether this procedure will help you achieve your goals.

When maintained with a stable weight and healthy lifestyle, your breast lift results will last for many years to come.
During the procedure, how much skin will Dr. Demaree remove from my breasts?
The amount of skin and tissue Dr. Demaree removes will vary depending on your pre-existing anatomy and your desired results. Once he has met with you to establish your treatment plan, he will let you know what to expect.
